Year-end Health and Wellness Check

As we get nearer to the end of 2019, folks find themselves starting to look towards a New Year and the opportunity to “reset” practices and routines to help them become the best version of themselves in 2020. And while we recognize you do not need a change of the calendar to make a change in yourself, we do know that a lot of people use the New Year to set new goals, achieve accomplishments and live a better life.

At Miller PT we’ve got your back! As we wrap up this year and head into the next, we are going to give you the tools and the information you need to help support your body and your wellness as you go forward to rule the New Year! This month, we let you know that physical therapy is for everyone, and indeed, is a cornerstone of overall physical well-being.

For many, their understanding of physical therapy is what they hear their friends talk about when they have had an accident or have had an injury while playing sports. For most people, they hear their family or friends say that they need to head to “physio”, and automatically think that PT isn’t for them because they have never had an accident or substantial injury.

Not so! Physical therapy is for everyone! The goal of physical therapy is to achieve optimal physical function. What that means from individual to individual may change, but the end goal is to get you back to doing what you love doing: pickleball, tennis, CrossFit competitions or competitive sports. Regardless of what it is you are pursuing, physical therapy will help you get to where you need to be and prevent those moments where you need to take time off due to recurring soreness or aches and pains.

Physical therapy is used to correct muscular imbalances, tightness, and inflexibilities in and around joints. It is because of these things that people experience nagging aches and pains. Physical therapy is a good adjunct to your regular health and wellness routine; supporting the work you may be doing alongside your personal trainer, massage therapist or yoga instructor. There is no need to have a physician referral to see a physical therapist- so it is easy to incorporate physical therapy into your routine. This could be on a regular or intermittent basis, depending on what works best for your schedule and your body’s needs. Our physical therapists are knowledgeable experts in their field who can help to custom create a schedule of treatment that is unique to you.

Access to physical therapy has never been easier! With our direct access, we are able to see patients with most commercial insurances. Don’t have insurance? That’s no problem! We have easy and affordable self-pay options to help ensure physical therapy is an option for everyone. Getting your body moving freely is the first step in your New Year, New You Campaign, and will set you up perfectly for next month’s feature article: General exercise.

How can physical therapy benefit you? Our staff is ready to work with you to get you back to moving freely and reclaiming your health and wellness and getting back to the activities you love!
